So my baby was gone for a whole week, as she was being serviced. A good friend of mine, who happens to have lots of exotic cars laying around, let me borrow an '07 sl550. I must say that this car is something else....stylish, fast, comfortable, quiet, expensive, fun to drive, lots of cool gadgets, beautiful trim, awesome stereo system, Bluetooth compatible, navigation system, automatic hard top system and lots more to mention, for god's sake it is a 90k dollar car, but honest to god, it did not caused that desire and excitement to drive it as vettes have caused over the years....the muscle was not there, the response was not there, the rumble of the engine was not there and believe it or not, it seldom turned heads. these cars are everywhere in miami, just as C6's. i base my opinion after driving c5 base/vert/z06 models and c6 base/vert models. I am yet to drive the late model Z06, i can only imagine how overwhelmed i'd be. I also base my opinion on that that it is hard to explain, the excitement, the desire to drive no-where.....even my 6 year old said "I like corvette better". By no means am I putting the SL down, It is an exceptional piece of machinery and many would dispute my opinion and say how dare I make this comparison and many would ask that if given the chance to choose between the SL550 or my C5 vert, hands down i'd pick the SL, turn around, sell it for 85k and buy a new Z06.... This is just my opinion and it was based on simple feelings!
