Been having a burning rubber smell for awhile. Drive belt finally slipped badly & started shredding. I replaced it & blew out all the dust. It's been a few weeks & I still smell the burning rubber smell. Not sure if it is still slipping since I don't see any belt dust.
I am wondering if I should replace the tensioner. I noticed I can push down on it. It does take some effort though but I was able to release the belt without using a 15mm socket & wrench on the pulley. Just pushed down on the pulley itself. Is this a problem & should i try a more stout tensioner?
Thinking about a C6 or maybe the Total Performance one I saw on here.
If so there are aftermarket tensioners...... or you can use the C6 tensioner. It is supposed to be a little more stout versus the C5 tensioner and the pulley has lips to help keep the belt from coming off the pulley.
Did you check all the pulleys when you replaced the belt to make sure one isn't failing/binding?
