Put in central vac.The power unit is around $300.00 and schedule 40 2 inch piping can be used. I did my whole home including the garage for &600.00. If you just do a shop I bet you will be under $400.00 if you don't require more than 4 outlets.I have a garage hose kit with all the attachments that I bought for $35.00.
It is quiet cause the unit is in the basement and vents to the outside.Plus it can suck start a harley
Here is a link to the place where I bough all the stuff from.

Hi Oak. PM Wayne. He just bought something that he hung in the garage that he absolutely loves. I'm sure he'd be able to give you all the information you need---but you might not hear from him until tomorrow---he is home sick Give him a call He called me at lunch...He's bored
Get the big vacuum from Sears. I have been using them for 20 years. They are portable, have lots of different hoses and attachments, plus they'll pick up liquid. Also, they're easy to clean, Just take the top off and then hose out the inside to get it squeaky clean.
Additionally you can get HEPA filters that really keep the dust down, plus the filters are washable.
You can find the shop vacs on sale for around a hundred bucks. Best deal for a shop vac IMO..............
I have a Shop Vac wall mount in my garage. I saw a better one on a commercial today, made by Bissel, 40 feet of hose. It did cost twice as much as my Shop Vac, $85 to $180.

I'm just using a portable shop vac from Sears and it works really well. But I do like the idea of the central vac unit - not sure how well it would work with liquids though.

Not well at all unless you get a in-line water adapter. Otherwise your filter bag will get wet.
I use my shop vac if I have to deal with wet stuff
