I just purchased this car and I'm slowly learning everything. It's a 2000 Coupe M6.
It has the dial in the console there to switch between Tour, Sport and Performance (I think it's those 3?). Either way, am I supposed to get some kind of confirmation when I turn the dial? Does anything come up on the little computer dealie?
The reason I ask is that I think the car is lowered, so I wonder if that was disabled as a result of it. I'm not too sure how to tell if the car was lowered as I haven't gotten a chance to park next to another vette. I don't really feel a difference between the 3 modes either.

I do not think that the DIC displays any messages - you should just feel the difference in the ride of the car. Check in your owners manual - it should say something about it in there.
Nothing will show up on the dic, and most people say there is not much of a difference in the settings on that vintage.
The 03-04's are a different story.

Correct, no confirmation of switch and it's hard to tell the difference.
No messages. Some people notice a difference, especially on rough roads and some don't. Also if the f45 shocks have been changed out it would have been bypassed. Mine seemed to feel more boaty in cruise or touring or whatever the softest setting is called. Left mine in the stiffest setting and now running Bilstein sports so it's been bypassed. (Can't afford the coil-overs I really want right now.) I think the stock height is around 27 1/2 at the front measured to the center of the front fender well, but it's been along time ago and I might be off on that. Try a search on lowering the car and you might find a reference to this measurement.
My experience is like Dave's. Seems to float in touring. At high speeds on the highway (85) it felt unsettled and not in my control ( I turned it to touring because I was hitting fairly high expansion joints and thought touring might even out the ride - hated it). I drive with it in Sport most of the time. That is the middle setting. I like it there. Then whenever I am about to get spirited I put it in performance and it feels a little tighter to me. Not a lot but I can detect subtle differences. Also if driving over a particular piece of road I can tell a slight shift in how the car rides. If you blindfolded me and asked me what setting it was in I could probably tell the difference between being in touring or not but if you weren't telling me when you changed it and went between sport and performance I doubt I would even know. Other than the position of the **** there is no indication.
My 2001 mn6 has the select ride and I think its a nice option to have.I think you have to have a sensitive a$$ to fully appreciate the effect but I certainly can feel the difference. I use it often!
