I took my car to Autozone to get tested because the "check engine " light was on. They told me it was just a Intake Thermostat. They told me disconnected the battery and put new intake thermostat on an connected back the battery. The check engine light was still on and i went back and they told me that the machine was just bringing up just that one problem "Intake thermostat". They told me it might be the wire and i will be expensive to change the harness on it! so any adviced!!!
The codes to be concerned with are any you find in the 10 - PCM section. You can reset the code if you wish, this will turn the CE light off. But it may come back until the problem is resolved.
But, start by letting us know what code you find, and then we can better help you find and fix the issue.
Be careful taking advice from parts guys. I like my local Autozone guys a lot, but a CEL light and a code don't always get fixed by throwing a part at it. Get yourself a good manual and use troubleshooting section once you i.d. the trouble code.
Disconnect and reconnect your MAF plug. The IAT sensor is located in the MAF on 2001s. It may just be a bad connection. Might as well try the easy stuff first.
