Im sure its been discussed before in the past but Im wondering if there is any new findings to this.
My A/C button does not light up anymore on the climate control. How to fix this the best way? Has anyone found an led that matches perfectly so the others dont have to be replaced? Im kind of pissed about this all because I just fixed the dim display.
Do you mean the light that illuminates the whole button? That would be this...
Digikey.com Part# CM7219-ND
It sure looks like an LED in shape, but its incandescent... only $0.50 + shipping. I had to replace 5 of these on mine when I bought my car. Hope you know how to solder.
Its the yellowish light that illuminates the whole a/c button, not the orange light that comes on when the a/c is on. Does radioshack sell these? Is it a 60 or 70? If you guys could come to an agreement on which it should be and point out the part to me at radioshack I will go there to get some. I can solder pretty good. Thanks.
The backlight bulbs are a real PITA! First you have to replace ALL of them at once, for some reason if you just replace one or a few the rest start popping. Second they are hard to find! I've got two sources for the correct bulbs;

Oh that doesnt sound good. Whats the chance mine just came loose and could be resoldered? I was beating around on it cause the display was dim.
I really doubt it, although it's remotely possible.
Since you need to crack it open to fix your dim display, you might as well replace all the bulbs also and just be done with! There's an excellent Thread in here about fixing your display yourself and replacing the bulbs is pretty straight forward... There's also the LED conversion you could do.
If you need any help, PM me. I do this stuff for owners that are not comfortable around a soldering iron...

This may be what commonly happens, but I did mine in February of this year with that exact part number and they match the others that I did not replace perfectly fine. None of the rest have burnt out either, not to say they won't tomorrow, if it weren't in storage for the winter. If you are decent at soldering its a really simple task, and cheap. Order 20, for extras, and swap them as necessary. I guarantee you that this part number will physically look identical when installed. The difference between 60ma and 70ma in mcd would be negligible, if there is any difference in fact.
That's great info!!!!! I'll try your bulbs out, I've swapped all my interior lights with Red LEDs so I can't compare them myself but I'll take your word for it!!!
Thanx for letting us know about the bulbs and the source you used.

Which ones did you use? The GM or Radioshack type? If radioshack carries what I need, I will fix it tomorrow. I hate ordering parts online because im impatient.

As member Tstar said already, if one has died, replace them all in both the radio and hvac units otherwise you will be doing the same job several times. They don't last forever.

You might as well as call me Tim... We seem to rub shoulders often enough!
Cool! I'm David. Congrats to CLEAR for doing the work and soldering in the new lamps. Its not that hard and sooner or later, everyone will be doing theirs.
