Default Need help...headers...

Okay I know the header topic has been beat to death but was having trouble searching for anything related to me. Here is the skinny...

I have a 408 and next week sometime I will finally be installing my TFS 225 heads with custom cam. I currently have a ported FAST 92/92 as well. Right now I am running ARH 1 3/4 headers through a catted 2.5" xpipe and 2.5" Corsa exhaust. What benefit would I see out of going to a 1 7/8 headers with full 3" catted xpipe and 3" exhaust?

Car is 99% street driven by the way and I already have a 3.90 rear diff and Z06 ratio transmission so down low is already there.

Thanks for the help,

Kevin

Hey Kevin,

Not sure how much MORE you would see all we ever hear is that the bigger primaries should be used on the bigger motors, so with that logic I would think you would see some gains. How much I don't know, maybe another 10-20rwhp over the old set?

Maybe give the guys at ECS a call? They could probably tell you what they have actually seen on a dyno.

Good luck Buddy!

Andy

I agree with Andy..Call ECS..They will be able tell you the possible gains.

Ya that seems to be the theory on this. But whats funny is if you search this topic you get 50 different answers all with 50 different results. Which only leads me to assume there is no golden rule on primary diameter or length as a general but more or less application based. And I don't want this thread to add onto the countless hundreds of header war threads already on the forum just would like to see if anyone has had any similar experiences with bigger cubes.

This is the exact reason why I feel talking to a shop that actually deals with this will help you the most. See if you can call a shop that dynos and tunes a high volume of cars, like ECS, A&A, LMR they can give you an unbiased real world opinion that should help you make a more informed choice.
