Default Exhaust leak from headers

Guys- I have a 97 with older headers (tpis I think - were on the car when I bought it)- they have cracks where the air tubes weld on to them .. cause a ticking noise. Anyone know if these can be welded back up - (headers are coated) - or is it time for new headers ($$) ? Thanks.

Yes they can be welded, even if they are coated. With a wire wheel or grinding wheel clean the area and then weld it. You can get it welded at most Muffler shops. It might have to be removed to be welded properly. I wouldn't suggest it but there are many owners that have done away with the AIR tubes, so another alternative is to remove the flanges and weld the hole closed.
