I have the plug and play xenon kit from a forum vendor, but when my headlights are on I get some static in the radio reception??/ anyone else get this and anything I can do to make it go away??
there as a huge thread about HID installs which I heard got canned for mentioning ebay sellers. I think just about everyone who installed HIDs started to notice the same thing. we aren't sure what's causing it yet.
The only fix is to go through the painstaking process of checking all of the grounds. Start with the lights if that's what caused the sudden change. Make sure that everything is grounded to something structural and is making a good connection. I say structural because there are many things that work while the car is still but move around when there are vibrations and lose their grounding ability just enough to cause issues like what you are experiencing. If that doesn't work, move on to the radio and do the same thing. Make sure your connections are all good and that there is no exposed wire. Do the same with the antenna wire. If you are using an aftermarket head unit there is probably an antenna adapter with exposed metal. It may be a coincidence, but I've noticed that taping the exposed metal with electrical tape will work sometimes. Just because this actually fixes the radio issue doesn't mean that it is the cause of the problem. The problem is that the exposed metal behind the dash that the antenna was touching has a charge from some other component that isn't grounded correctly. Even though your radio now works, there is still something not properly grounded.
I don't know if any of this made a bit of sense. In fact, I seriously doubt it.
