Default 1998 vette seats

I am looking to purchase a 1998 vette. In driving one today I noticed on both seats that they seem to slide about 1/2 when taking off or slowing down. What could be causing this?

There also was alittle bit of vibration with the clutch.

Just looking for some insight since this will possibly be my 1st vette purchase.

The seat moving is a common issue. It doesn't usually result in any other problems then a little sliding back and forth when you go or stop fast.

You can read some info about it and what some fixes are in the sticky thread at the top of this forum.
Thread: Weights, measurements, ratios, strengths, etc

The thread has lots of other good info too you should check out. I have an A4 so I don't know anything about the clutch vibration.

Welcome to CF,

It's called the rocking seat syndrome. There have been a number of posts here on the forum with fixes for it. It is something you can probably do yourself if the car is one your really want, but I'd negotiate a lower price to compensate for it. Otherwise, keep searching - there are plenty of C5s out there for sale and many do not have that problem.

If you decide that is the car for you, I have some Word files that explains the repair procedure. PM me your e-mail address and I'd be glad to forward a copy to you. I'm away from home right now and won't be back until Tuesday evening so keep that in mind if you do request the files.
