It's easy enough to tell. Just lift it. If it's copper - nickel - chrome it will be a lot heavier after chrome plating. Your're wallet will be lighter though, it cost me $400 to just have mine show chromed yet alone the price of the cover itself. If this is same process it's a steal!

Finally!! Molded C5 Chrome Plenum/Intake Manifold Cover!!
Our C5 plenum/intake manifold covers are made from premium ABS plastic. Each cover is chrome plated and ready to win those shows! These install in minutes with our 3M tape built in. Simply peel and stick and tighten a few bolts. Install in under 30 minutes.
These will start shipping January 14, 2009. When you order select "Pay by Mail" we'll call you when your cover is ready to ship to get your credit card information at that time. This is a pre-order item.
Pictures show a C5 unit painted in a low gloss black and a C6 unit in chrome. We currently do not have a picture of a C5 unit in chrome. The C5 unit will look exactly like the C5 unit in the picture, just chrome plated.

Also what is the material made of before chroming? Is it copper or some other lightweight material? Chroming of anything other then copper is nto easy and has a tendency to flake, crack and peel if not done properly. Chroming of plastic and other materials is a 10 step process and if any of the steps is not done correctly...you are asking for problems.
Want this to match everything else I have in the engine compartment that is chromed. See below.
