Default Halltech T1 impressions?

I spoke to the people at Halltech and they said they have people with the T1 being their only mod running 11.9's in the Z06. I found this hard to believe. Maybe with the whole kit which includes a Ported TB, Plugs, wires, coolant by pass, heat shield for above Rad, afr fuel calibrator, and 30# injectors 11's is possible. They are advertising atleast 30 more RWHP with the kit for $1699. The T1 alone is $599. I think they are claiming a 17 RWHP gain with just the T1. Does anybody here have the T1 and if so what are your impressions? Pros? Cons? Worth the money?

There has been plenty of discussion on that topic over on "the other board" which deals with Z06's.

Not with the fact that a Z will run 11.9, (Mine has run 11.96 with no mods and just a set of sticky tires), and several 01's have done so with just an airfilter or other minor "mods" (including his intake system) and a good driver on the stock radials . So, the question is not can a Z run 11.9 (it can) but with Mr. Hall's advertised HP gains. I have seen the dyno numbers with my own 2 eyes for a Tric Ti it was about 8HP across the board and 10HP peak on my friend's '01.

The problem was several memebers felt that he was making claims for which he did not have any data to back them up. He now has dyno numbers, and has put out the following challeng on the "other forum"

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Halltech needs a "Doubting Thomas"
Since we redynoed our 02 with the complete T-1 package, no one has said a word.

I was frankly shocked by the results. In fact, maybe folks think we are up to something.

The truth is, that we can duplicate the +30 RWHP on any 2002!

Skepticism is a good thing, and we can understand that going from an astouding 16.2 RWHP with just the T-1 intake, to over 30 RWHP with the rest of the T-1 package seems impossible. It's not.

We need someone, preferably from the forum, to travel to Halltech with a virgin stock 2002 Z06. Untouched. We need the car for 1 day. We will provide a loaner 2000 C5 for your use. If you want to hang around for a day, that's ok too.

You will purchase the T-1 package for our $1,699.00 forum price, and here is what we promise.

We will dyno the car stock, you should come with us. Three to five baseline pulls, recording everything.

Back to our shop. I will personally install the entire T-1 Package.

Back to the dyno shop and redyno.

If we cannot add at least 30 RWHP to your stock pulls, the installation will be free! This is four hours of installation time.

I can make this offer, since our very best stock dyno was 350.8 RWHP. Of 9 stock dynos, our average was 344 RWHP, which coincidentally is 405 HP.

Our best dyno with the T-1 SideWinder only was 367 RWHP which took place 25 minutes after the 350.8.

Our best dyno with the T-1 package was 381.2 RWHP prior to the B&B headers, which added another 3.1 RWHP.

How about Powershifter?

Let's meet, bury the hatchet, and get your car deep into the elevens.

I have the T-1 on my 01 Z06 and I am very impressed. I am going to dyno with and without it in a few weeks. I expect atleast 10-15 RWHP.

Added bonues: The sound of the car sucking all that air in during acceleration. Kinda makes my spinker tingle.....

I have a T1 as well, there is a performance gain for sure, but I do not think 17 RWHP, maybe 10 hp aprox. It is a nice unit and I would buy again but I would get the new plastic T1 that they are working on, I will sell my carbon fiber one for a plastic one when they come out. :)

I used to run a RM Racing Twin Flow. I noticed quite a bit of difference when I switched to my T1. It was like my car really woke up, especially in the top end. I would suggest, if you decide to go with the T1, get the power stack filter with it. It is conical shaped on the inside, which allows for more surface area, and a less restricted air flow column, due to less turbulence. Halltech can add this filter to the T1 for the same price I'm sure. Also, it tends to fit better than the Z1000, it floats above the shroud, allowing air to get all around it, where the Z1000 rested on the shroud because it was larger overall.

I would like to get a T1 but have some concern about the additional air causing a lean condition. I know this can make the car ping or even knock at WOT, near redline, or under load conditions. Has anybody experienced this with the Halltech on their Z06?

No problem with knock at all, we have 93 and 94 octane fuel here so it's not a problem.

Installed the Sidwinder on my car and it gained about 12 hp after a 30 minute relearn..Air fuel mixtures were right at 12.6 at redline..Right about where you want them.
