I currently have stock c5 rims and 275/40/18's in the rear. My question is if I upgrade to 19's in the rear and 18's in the front will the tires I am running currently in the rear fit on the front (meaning no rub or any other problems)?? Your help is greatly appreciated.

There's been a million threads on this - did you try a search?
But - in recognition of your "newbie" status, you can run a 275 tire in front, but the 40 aspect ratio will more than likely be too tall. To avoid issues with traction control, you have to run a shorter tire in front than the rear. So the real question - what size back tire are you going to run?
I run a 275-35x18 in front and a 305-30x19 in back with no issues at all. You need a minimum of a 9.5" wide wheel in front and a 10.5" wide wheel in back to run the same combo that I have (which is pretty common).

They're too wide for the front, as well being too tall.
245/40/18's on stock C6 wheels are perfect for the front.
