Default Broken Sun Visor?

I had a broken sun visor that was flapping around and annying me, so I was able to find a used one (from a forum member) that I thought would work. Here is the visor that I received:

Everything looked OK until I pulled the old one and realized the the triangular mounting stud can't be removed from the shaft. I pried on it for 20 minutes, since it looks like it can snap off. You can see I tore the upholstery off, since the board material inside was busted. It doesn't look like I can switch the shafts either. I checked with the local stealership and that triangular stud is part of the sunvisor assembly.

Am I correct or is there something I'm missing here?

If I understand correctly:

The first picture is the "newly" acquired sunvisor - correct?

The second picture is the one you removed from your Vette - correct?

If the above statements are correct - the one you received was/is damaged, or incorrect for C5's.

I know of no method to change out the metal part.

You many want to talk to http://www.vette2vette.net/ and get a correct and non- damaged part.

Thanks for the link. The dealership wants $160 for one of them, and Gene @ GM Parts House wants $110.

Yes, you understood correctly. I got in contact with the member that sold it to me and she is refunding my money and paying shipping both ways. She was unaware that the visor was broken (it's very hard to tell unless you already have pulled one from a car), an honest mistake on her part.

Try contacting one of the two vendors on the left side of the screen that deals in used Corvette parts. Bet you can find what you need there at a decent price.
