Default fog lights

its time for me to get new fogs. i am wondering if there is a set with maybe some HIDs in it? there has to be more options than just buy a new set of fogs from chevy. do any other fogs work on our cars??

If you search some existing threads for hid lighting you will
find info on HID fogs also.

Also, E-Bay under c 5 corvette accessories has many listings.

Yes. There are several kinds --- the most common/popular ones around here are the PIAA 1100X --- but those are just REALLY bright compared to the OEM fogs. These are the ones I had:

I now have true HIDs fogs --- I got the Hellas:

You're 3rd options is to get a higher wattage bulb and use the OEM lenses. The only consideration is, the OEM wiring and housings are rated for the OEM bulb. You could end up melting your wires and/or the housings with extended use because of the additonal heat.

Consider this though before you buy anything --- if you plan to get true HID's --- not just the blue tinted bulb some places will try and sell you as "HID", you probably won't even see the fogs work --- HID headlights are great when aimed correctly, and they'll wash out the fogs anyway. Food for thought.

Hope this helps.

Do you have fogs already? If so you can get a HID kit from some vendors here, I think it is kit 880 for the conversion. I have seen PIAA fogs listed in a number of places.

Look at what PIAA has to offer. Very nice products and much better than OEM.

The OEM foglights have a great cutoff, they just have 37 watt bulbs.

Replace them with 50 watt bulbs (#885) and aim them and they are useful.

Replace bulbs with HIDs and you can drive with them.

I put in 885's for a few months 50watt vs 37 watt with no wiring issues.
They were alot better until I put in a 800 series HID kit into them.
2 1/2 times brighter and I was able to drive most of the time with just my fogs on. They are that bright with a great cut-off. $59.00 and change from the action site. No need to change the oem fogs

I'm running the 880 HID's from auction for $56.99, free shipping, and I had a 15% off coupon. So they cost me like $48. delivered. Love em and they match the headlights perfectly. I went with 8000K in both.

Default Hella DE Xeon

Taking a long trip this Spring, St Louis to Tombstone AZ in my 2003 convertible. Since I will be traveling the dark roads of the southwest 48 I would like to enhance my lighting. Looks like the Hella DE Xeon might do the trick. Any opinions on this possible future investment are most welcomed. Particularly interested in the difficulty factor in doing the conversion.
Thanks,

Navsafe
