No vanity plates in Texas at the moment. Private company was doing them for the state and they can't seem to make any money so they have closed up. What happened to the good old days of prisoners making plates ????

Here in the Garden State our prisoners don't have enough HBO programming ( they cried when the Sopranos left the air) to keep them out of trouble. So send us your criminally insane, your underprivileged, your convicted scum, or at least a work order for your plates. (actually I would think this between states cooperation might actually be a good idea!)

Prisoners making plates? That'd be against their "civil rights".
Besides, they need time to waste our tax money on appeals.
How dare you to ask prisoners to labor at making license plates! How would they find time to make "shivs" if they are tied up making plates for you? You are truly insensitive....

Texas used to have the only self supporting prison system in the country.Grew their own food and made furniture license plates etc...Until a federal judge named William Wayne Justice stepped in and said that wasn't fair.Oh yeah and if Obama knew Governor Bozo was such a crook he stayed away from him,why didn't he tell anyone? He was a U.S. senator aren't they supposed to report crimes?

not true... the company that closed up was doing a separate vanity plate service from the standard one that txdot offers. There was a reason they couldn't make any money. They tried charging an insane amount of money for some crappy plate designs. Not many people wanted them, so that's what happens. You can still order the standard vanity plates from txdot as always.
