So this is my first Christmas in VA, moved here from Michigan and it is also the first Christmas I have been able to wash my car! The best part is that I got to wash a Corvette! It's 60 and sunny outside and after we have Christmas dinner I am taking the wife out for a cruise in my freshly bathed corvette. What a great Christmas, hope everyone else is enjoying theirs as much.
My son lives out there, forum member NightDrv with my high-mileage '99. Got to call him right now and wish him a Merry Christmas, along with the same to everyone here. VA is so green!!!
Your're killing me. I just hooked up the trickle charger as it is 18 degrees in Chicago with 13 inches of snow on the ground. 6 weeks since I have been in the Vette with about 12 more to go. Enjoy the ride and light em up once for me. Merry Christmas.
just got mine home, went out for a drive ,then went to see a movie with my lady.Valkyrie with tom cruse, was very good i might add.Merry Christmas everyone..........
Yes I'm in 30 inches of snow..in the northwest USA,,corvette is well covered and with her battery tender...my daughter lives in GA and it's in the low 80's...might go visit her soon....
Enjoy the front plates, inspections, extremely low speed limits, and no radar detectors. Also look forward to the 100+ degree summers with a minimum of 90% humidity. summer just ended about 2-3 weeks ago, the leaves are still on 1/2 the trees around town. summer will return in about a month, and the nice comfortable temperatures will be gone for about another 10 months.
I hate Virginia and am getting myself and my Vette out of here as soon as I can!
from my perspective though, you just traded the summer for the winter. around here its so hot you can't keep your car clean. by the time I finish washing and cleaning my car I have to do it all over again because its covered in the residue of my sweat. not to mention the humming bird sized mosquitos big enough to bite limbs off of you. they swarm around you the second you leave the house.
maybe its my own aversion to any air temperature over 70, but my Vette doesn't like warm weather either. it doesn't run nearly as well in the heat. a nice 40* day also adds a significant amount of SOTP power.
Although it is very nice to be able to work on and wash the vette all Winter long. There are alot of vette owners around here, make sure you stop by the regional forum and say hi to the Ratpack if you haven't already. I haven't been out with any of them for a while but I need to, great bunch of people!
I hope you enjoy it here. personally I'm hoping to move somewhere cooler within the next year. its hard to dislike a 65* day, but on Chritsmas eve I'd much rather be driving through snow flurries than riding down 460 with the top off. I'm in completely the wrong part of the country.
Funny how different situations are to different people. I'm only a few miles away from you (Chesapeake, VA) in this warm weather. I would love to be up in the cold with my family back in Ohio but it's not going to happen this year (military).
This is my 2nd Christmas in eastern NC. Moved here from the snow belt in northeastern Ohio. Don't miss the snow, cold, ice etc. I do however miss the beauty of the snow. Ohio will always be home.
Just washed the Corvette this afternoon. Christmas Day, wouldn't have dreamed of doing this in 2006. Those bone-chilling sub zero temps pretty much keep you in front of the fireplace and certainly from doing any work at all on cars.

welcome!
Feel free to take the spot I vacated in Boston four years ago. No more snow, ice, slush, sand, salt, etc for me or my cars. If it gets hot in ATL, we just turn the AC on in the cars, house, offices, etc.
HI,
