Is there a way of upgrading an C5 to the new Active Fuel Management setup?? i was in a G8 the other night a guy i know bought and i noticed that once we got on the interstate is shows a displace stating that it dropped from 8 cylinders to 4 and you can watch the live MPG almost double compared to the numbers while on all 8 cylinders..
If you've got enough money I'm sure it's possible, but not very cost effective. If you were to improve your Highway fuel mileage by 50% and say you spend $1000 to do it (I'm sure it would cost more than that) even when gas goes back up to $4/gal you would have to put over 22,000 miles just to brake even. At todays prices you would have to put close to 50,000 miles just to brake even, and thats assuming you could do it for $1000 which I don't think you could. And on top of this you're performance would probably suffer because you would have to change a lot of the parts in the fuel delivery system.

Depending on how you drive the vette and your gears, you should be getting close to 30 on the highway already. I'm assuming you're a conservative driver given the fact that you're considerate of your fuel consumption. With that being said I'd also doubt the G8's get better than 30mpg given the heavier weight and larger displacement. Just my 2cents.
