No way to retrofit the LSX motor with that. The motor has to be designed with displacement on demand (DOD) built in.

If you've got enough money I'm sure it's possible, but not very cost effective. If you were to improve your Highway fuel mileage by 50% and say you spend $1000 to do it (I'm sure it would cost more than that) even when gas goes back up to $4/gal you would have to put over 22,000 miles just to brake even. At todays prices you would have to put close to 50,000 miles just to brake even, and thats assuming you could do it for $1000 which I don't think you could. And on top of this you're performance would probably suffer because you would have to change a lot of the parts in the fuel delivery system.

Depending on how you drive the vette and your gears, you should be getting close to 30 on the highway already. I'm assuming you're a conservative driver given the fact that you're considerate of your fuel consumption. With that being said I'd also doubt the G8's get better than 30mpg given the heavier weight and larger displacement. Just my 2cents.

Aside from the computer/harness/DIC readout issue, you could pull a 5.3L or 6.0L or 6.2L motor from a late model truck or SUV...
