Rattling and Clanging
Have a C5, 1998 Coupe. 43K. Sat for about 4 months. Replaced battery. Seems to run fine, but a very noticeable clanging and rattling from the engine is present. No smoke. No odd smells. Just clanging and rattling at both idle and at speed. No odd gauge indications. No visible obstructions on the fans or belts.
Any ideas?

Almost sounds like an engine mount. However, I never seen it on a C5.

I haven't been under mine for awhile but it could be some heat shield that is loose. Especially when you describe it as "clanging".
I'd get under it and start pounding on stuff. Header pipes, any number of things that could be loose.
