Default Another BSM thread - with a twist

Originally got the idea when I saw a Mustang Shelby Cobra. ( flame suit on) thought it would be a good one since I've never really seen anybody do it.
I know some people are haters of the BSM's and some are haters of fake Carbon fiber ( Hydrographics ) I guess I'll be breeding a whole new species of haters people/members that will hate Hydrogaphic Carbon fiber BSM. Yes, I though of it because I saw a Mustang Shelby Cobra with a CF side mirror. And if a Cobra and pull it off, why not a C5. And Although my car is silver, the Z06 ducts that are installed are dark gray so hopefully the CF BSM's would blend in. No I haven't installed them yet as it is very very cold here in Illinois. But I do have a few pics. By the way -Pat ( flasunshine ) did the Hydrographics. So thank you Pat - sorry again it took this long to post pics and probably even longer as to when I install them. It will look black from a distance but at close up -anybody will notice the CF pattern. OK, I'll stop with the chit chat and get on with the pics

I know there's probably some positives and negatives -for the negatives though - please keep the comments in a constructive and not in an offending note - I do have feelings It is my car after all.

Well I like BSM's , and the carbon fiber touch, awesome, depending on the color of the car. On silver, pewter etc would look great not sure about any other color though. I assume your car is Silver. You know what would really look good is a carbon fiber targa roof. To match . Post some pics when you are done.

Kudos to you for coming up with yet another variation/combination of mods and effects. Hey, enjoy!

I have seen C5's with different-color (painted) BSM's driving around and it is a very weird feeling. I definitely did a double-take.

You know, you can get the C/hydrographic rear brake duct pieces - just in case you want it all to match.

My 2004 MSG Verte has BSM. I personally like the look however I know there are hard core non BSM guys out there who passionately disagree.

With that said, the reason I like the C5 BSM (vs. the C6 BSm which IMO looks Fugly) is that it blends in well with the lines of the car.

I think adding Carbon Fiber-look BSM will only draw attention to the BSM which then takes away from sleek the lines of the car. Another forum member posted pictures earlier of red painted BSMs on a silver C5that had similar results (and got flamed pretty bad).

However, if you like it, go for it as it is your car!
BTW - if you want to complete the look, I have seen Carbon Fiber-look Z06 rear brake ducts that might match up pretty well. Post pics when you get these installed.

I like the idea. I agree, that on some colored cars it will look okay, not too sure about others.

You're a brave soul to start this thread.

On a black or silver car, it may be very visually appealing.

I like the BSM's and I installed them on my Vette when I got it because they were taken off!

I would think that maybe on a YELLOW Vette it may look goofy but on a Black Vette or Charrcoal Grey it'd look great

I like the look of those

Definetely post pics when they are on!

Thanks,Matt

Yes, I've been flirting with the idea of adding the CF brake ducts to my car. Be cool to have CF ducts and CF BSMs. We're all waiting for the finished product! And who cares what others think? They can kiss your tail pipes if they don't like it, LOL...
