Default rear gear question

I have an A$ with 2.73 gears. I considering upgrading to 3.42 because I enjoy drag racing occasionally. How much difference can I expect. I currently run about 13.3 in the quarter.

It will be a very nice difference on the take off. I'd say you could possibly get to 13.1 or so in the quarter, but that is just a guess. Never owned an A4 C5 - I've always had a 6-speed car.

I installed the 3.42 diff from my MN6 that I put 4.10's in along with a Yank 3200 stall TC, a tranny cooler, headers and, of course, tuning to reset the shift points/pressures and fan temps. This was in the wife's A4 and it is definitely a different (faster) car. No track numbers - sorry.

Been there and done that! It's the best mod for the buck performance wise. My "97" went from a 13.2 car to a 12.9 with this change and a c.a.i. and tune! :note: You will have a very big traction problem and will need slicks to really get the full benafit!
Just do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and

It will be the best thing you can do for your car. Its the way these cars should have come from the factory. IMHO
