Help me guys. I need this part. NO ONE around here has it. Even the dealers can't get it. As I was replacing the pcv, i removed the grommet/housing to find this: The rubber inside is completely eaten away.
It is even split where along the seam.(arrow) I was having a lean condition & pinging. I wonder if this was the culprit?
Anywho, any parts dealer here can get me one asap??
You might inquire with Gene Culley of GMPARTSHOUSE, a site supporting vendor, column left.
You might inquire with a couple of the site supporting vendors who supply used Corvette parts. A used part might be just as deteriorated.
You might watch the classified forum for someone who is parting out their car. Same issue as above.
It almost looks like a distributor/spark plug boot. You might be able to DIY create something that would work in a pinch until you find a new one.
The other option would be to convert to the improved '04 PCV system that eliminates the traditional PCV with a fitting below the intake and a restricted orifice tube.
Parts manual does not list that piece separately. It's part of the PCV piping sub-assembly, part no. 12562580.
Hopefully, someone has a spare lying around or you can get one from our used parts vendors or the parts 4-sale section. I recently sent a spare assembly I had to a member who needed another part of that but I'm pretty sure the PCV valve was not attached with the pice you need.
I did email Gene. Yes, it does look like our spark plug boot. Unfortunately, I have no spare wires. I guess I can go to Advance again and see if they have a motorcycle plug wire or something similar.
In the HELP aisle of your favorite parts supplier, you should be able to find separate spark plug/distributor boots. It's the aisle where they typically sell generic window cranks, small rubber door bumpers, etc...

You can often find the right part or something that will work in that section.
