There's a lot of info in that thread. It grew to be a pretty large thread.
Follow the direction in this link to remove your center console. This is a shifter replacement link, but has very good instructions. No need to remove your shifter or ****. Just place the boot inside out to give you some room to move the console and route the wires. If you have an A4, put it in N. Remove the 4 bolts on the front of the stock radio to get it out.
When I do a google search on the exact model shown in the thread, I always follow the link and find "no product" for my car. This is the only thing I have found.

This thread has been discussing the IPOD2CAR which is a diferent animal. The one they list is good for an '04, but not an '02 ???
I went the P.I.E. GM10AUX / P.I.E. CORHAR method. Eventually I will add in the Soundgate AUX3 for sat radio.
The below mount is available from KUDA USA for $60. It looks great (factory) and literally takes seconds to install. The iPhone 3G cradle is also available from KUDA for $99 and both charges the iPhone and has audio outputs.
Did mine yesterday , can't believe I waited so long to do this , it is sweet
That is how I did mine as well, it is really sweet. In my winter beater I have a tape deck so I use that but the controller on the HK helps you keep the eyes on the road when changing songs/tracks. The only thing I did was the aux power in the console since I don't need that which saved me from having to drill a hold.
I mounted the controller behind the passenger seat, how about you?
Great minds must think alike cuz I have the same tire gauge as well.
Ok, then to all of you using the Ipod2car device, since I can't find it for my 2002, does that mean all of you have a newer car? or am I looking at the wrong place?
a suitable substitute, do you think? Seems to claim to hook up in the same way?
And to BigDave6, thanks for the info. I assume you have a 2004, which seems to suggest that there is a difference between the 2002 and 2004 radio, but they have the same feature list, including the 6 disk, which either of these devices hooks up in the place of. I hope someone can lend some help!
Go to the big auction site and search for ipod2car. Get a PXHGM2 adapter cable if you have an 6 disc cd changer. Get a PXHGM4 cable if you do not. Should work with any C5. Here's one that I found.

Regards again,
I realize that this thread is actually about ipod mounting solutions, but for those of us who are having problems sorting it all out, the following is courtesy of superstreet, which may be a work around for tose of us with "non 2004" cars:
What the difference is between the cables are the actual "pins" in the connector. The best way to know which cable you need is to pull the male connector from the bottom of the CD changer. Look into the connector end. There should be 7,9 or 10 pins actually present. That should tell you which cable you need. I have the 9 pin connector.

Hmmm... Thanks! I have a 12 disk changer (not 6), and it looks like there is also a PXHGM1 and PXHGM3 cable - think I need to do some unplugging to get to the bottom of this one!
