Default What is this?

What is the rectangular box above the upper seat belt pulley on both the driver's side and passenger side in the C5? I've had my car over a year and I just noticed them today.

As I understand it, it is there as a result of Federal crash testing -- essentially, to keep your head from going back between the head rest and the pillar.
