i was just doing a search on google about it, all i could find was talk of factory reproduction chrome wheels... does not seem like they came chrome from the factory.
chrome = weight... maybe that's why it was never done.

Chrome was not an option as stated... only polished.
Most chrome wheels are reproductions and can be quite heavy.
Some people chromed their factory wheels however.........
Check the rear of the wheel "spokes". If you see the words "Speedline" ('02-'04) or "Alcoa" ('01) then they are factory aluminum wheels that have been chromed and won't be much heavier than stock Z06 wheels.

...and dealerships frequently deal with small vendors who add chrome, gold and paint bling to otherwise bland factory offerings...
