Does anyone else experience this? Whenever I have the garage door open and I'm working around the house or playing hoops with the kids, if anyone driving a ricer, Mustang, BMW, etc. by my house, always revs their engine when the they see the Vette in the garage.
I really find this funny. We have about 10 Vettes in the neighborhood and most of the Vette guys know each other, however if I'm out tinkering in the garage, etc., I always hear a non-Vette rev their engine whenever they pass my garage.
I really don't think I'm imagining this as it happened twice this afternoon. I personally find it very funny.
Same thing goes in in my houseing track i live in..if i'm in the garage and any nice car drives by i get the rev up sound too!..I think they think your going to bring it out and race them. But i think its just so dam funny. They might just be car buffs, or they think they will get to me, But i just think its so great too have it happen so much.My wife if she is in the garage with me. she will say is that a freind of yours..I tell her its been going on for years now..But i do think its cool..it shows too me they like are corvette's..:ro fl:
Dont get to much traffic in my small little town down our street. But the ones that do almost come to a complete stop to check out my car and my wifes Sky LOL
Its to funny.
I always get some kind of reaction for young and old people when they come by the house. Mostly "nice cars" or "is that all you do is wash them". I occasionally have the ricer guys come by and rev the engine.
Yup... happens almost every time I open the garage door... Mustangs, Pick Ups, you name it... I really don't know what their problem is? Anything with a loud exhaust simply cannot resist. Oddly I have noticed that they completely ignore exotic cars around here like Maserati, Ferrari, Verons, etc., but they cannot see a Corvette without going Bat$hit!
I finally had my revenge on one about 3 weeks ago (through no effort on my part). I was stopped at a stop sign waiting to get on a main street when some kind of new Toyota (or something - sorry, they all look the same to me) turned onto my street (exiting the main road I was trying to get on). As soon as he got even with my car (facing the opposite direction?), he revved his engine and BLEW IT!!! - sounded like valves slamming against pistons - INSTANT TOAST! I turned on to the main street slowly (as usual) with my quiet Corsa Touring Exhaust and watched the two guys get out of the other car in my review mirror screaming WTF? Guess they got an unexpected result?
My neighbor with the '65 fastback stang likes to hit his flowmasters every now and then when he backs her out of the garage. Nothing intentional, he just likes to hear them. Of course his head always snaps around when I fire off the Borlas to get the water out after a wash.

Beautiful C-5, Love the hood.
With the 65 convt. or the C-5 convt. in the driveway I usually got a horn beep and a thumbs up and every now and then some engine revs.
I always waved back or gave a thumbs up.
But, one time when my Pro Street BB Novea was in the drive and I was in the house some kid pulls up in front of the house (I'm on a private street) with a beat 68 Camaro and proceeds to do a smokey one wheel burnout down my street. He came back again the next day while I was out and said he wanted to run me
I took him for a QUICK ride, ( car ran 9:30s @ 136mph ) scared the snot out of him. That was the end of that

Its a friendly gesture...kinda LIKE "HEY, COOL CAR!" I do it if someone is out and maybe they dont see me to wave. Give a little rev and a wave
Not thinking about it, I did this on the street the other day as I went past a girl in a WRX (tastefully done, solid blue w/ magnesium wheels...almost matched my EB!). Anyway, I just meant to give her a wave...it was a cool car, and cool to see a young girl in it. she must have thought I wanted to race, because she got next to me and nailed it! scared the crap out of me...that thing must have been a monster! I could here her turbo over my LT's and speedways I dont street race, but im thinking she might have given some of us a scare at the track!
I only rev to people who are parked now!
