Lady needs COLUMN LOCK advice. Please help, Thanks.
Buy the CLB and either install it or have it done.
Thanks to all you Gentlemen who replied with good advice. I really appreciate it and also that you treated me like an intelligent lady and didn't assume by virtue of my gender that I wouldn't understand your input. You were all very cool and kind in being so helpful and respectful. Thanks for making my visit to CF so pleasant.
I've elected to get the CLB, ordered from Corvettes of Houston and being next day shipped. The dealership will install it. I'd do it but they already have the dashbrd knee pad off and I figure they've done right by me (stored the car inside at night and treated it like gold like I requested - only the service rep drives it in and out of the svc bay and they're NOT going to curtousy wash it, etc.)
Anyway, thanks again everyone for your help in making this a successful outcome.
Michele
I just sent you a PM. Are you in Vapor Trail Vettes or any local club?
I might take you up on it if you are offering to help talk me through the install (I'll do the work) but I don't have a torx T-15 tool (suppose I could go buy one though)
Thanks for the moral support in any case.
Michele
A T-15 "tool" is nothing more than a screwdriver, with a funny shaped head. Kind of like a pointed star. They come in a variety of sizes, from small to large, and our cars use about every size they make. It would be a good idea to buy a set, if you plan on doing almost any of your own maintenance.
As for the CLB, don't fret it. If you can plug in a curling iron, you can do a CLB install. It's a plug and play fix. So don't let all the "information overload" you can get from reading too much, throw you off.
Good luck!
