Some of you guys are INSANE! I have an 02 Silverado crew cab Duramax dually that I pull a 24' pace enclosed with. My 71 Nova weighs in @ 2700 lbs. and I keep the gear to a minimum. Had a hack hack.......ford 3/4 ton v-10 and almost lost all of it in an instant and it wasn't my fault! The little ford was getting around 6 mpg. The healthy Dmax gets 15 mpg and a hill, up or down isn't a problem. It was well worth the extra dollars to keep my drag car, trailer, tow vehicle and my a$$ all together. Also, it's a sin to dragrace a Chevy and pull it with a ford...........LMAO!
If I towed more often Id invest in a truck like yours....I just dont need that much truck 90% of the time...
Yeah I think I'm pretty much fixed on the 3/4 ton Duramax. Pricing isn't that much of a difference between the used 3/4 ton and 1/2 (heck it isn't even that different on new ones) and fuel economy even w/o trailer is much better with the diesel. All my buddies with diesel trucks are running around 20mpg.
I wouldn't doubt a 1/2 ton could pull with lower gears. However, I had a blazer with low gears and really didn't like it. It sucked gas like no tomorrow. Got around 15 mpg average maybe.
What years did they make the ones with the round head lamps? I like that style the best. I know they started in 2000 with them but when did they stop making them like that? Also what are the differences between those and newer models?
