Thinking of converting to HID's. For those that haven't changed there housings have you had any problems such as, cops, blinding other drivers, bad cut off points, etc. Read a ton of posts today... good lord. But couldnt find out if anyone has has used HIDwholesaler.com. Seems like a better bet than the auction site. and still pretty cheap at $88.
Cops not an issue for me. Now a days, stock headlights on high-ends cars and trucks are just as bright. Some on-coming drivers do like flashing their high-beams at you, but I raised mine a bit. Its still a good choice though.
Autoiluminate on fleabay has kits for $60 shipped. He told me he would do $58 each shipped since I was getting 2 kits. A lot of forum members have this guy's kit. Search for "HID's are in and are awesome" to find a thread on them.
This has likely become one of the most popular and widespread mods for finally being able to see at night.
I see these kits on a LOT of different cars. Had mine about 2 years now and not a single 'flash' from anyone about being aimed to high or to bright for oncoming traffic.
You will be stunned at the amazing difference your nightime experience driving around.
Just do it..... Take about an hour for 2 headlights. Even less for the fogs.
yea, i am using a 50w HID kit in my housing, those are known as VHO (Very High Output). I don't have a stock housing though, i have the non pop up projector lights by specter werks.
i didn't really see "that" much of a diff b/w a normal 35w kit and a 50w kit. i just went with it since it was the newest stuff on the market.
the HIDs are def the way to go!!! all my cars have HIDs now, whether its factory or retro fitted in. even in a stock housing they will make a huge improvement! and they are super cheap now too. when i bought mine, it was like 420 for the VHO and 350 for a regular kit.
Good luck man. do a search cuz there is a lot of topics on it.
Aj
i had HID's on my '96 Z28(special kit to get lenses) and LOVED them. I will be doing this to my Vette before spring for sure

It supplies 55 watts for the headlight buckets to drop when you need them to. This is needed on most C5s. There is a cheap fix on the forum using a light bulb, but why bother with something cheap on your Vette? Get something secure for $25 that is proven to work.
