I hear comments all of time like "your car is so clean!" I look down and it looks filthy, finger prints, little scratches, dust etc.
There has never been a moment that I would actually stand back and say to myself that it is really clean and that there is nothing to do to it.
So my question:
Has anybody ever had a really clean car?
Nope. Not for a second. My front end is really beat up from over 90k miles of driving. little white chips all over the place. But no one else can see them but me. I know exactly what you're talking about, so many people see my car and can't see single flaw.
It's winter, mine is a DD, and I don't have a garage. I try my best to keep it as clean as I can, but it is never anywhere as clean as I wish it would be....but then again I am particular about stuff like that.
Mine is black, and my daily driver (winter included) so it is never truly 100% clean in my eyes. But in the untrained eyes of others, they always tell me "your car is never dirty!" so that puts things into perspective a little better.
My wife's dd C5 is often dirty even though I wash it frequently. She knows it bugs me so she doesn't worry about when or where she drives it since I won't let it sit dirty for long - even in winter. The Hummer is my dd so it gets dirty and washed often as well.
Now my C5, it's always spotless - inside, outside, underneath. It's stored on the lift covered and driven on sunny weekends.
I had mine detailed , minted out tires done, leather cleaned, top shapoeed, rugs vacummed, then we had one warm daay , the verte became dirty, and the rtemp hasnt gone above 35 , shes under the cover filthy, so she was clean for a couple of weeks, but it took one day of driving, welll in fact 3 hours, to get her dirty

I would not cover a dirty car as the cover itself could grind in the dirt. Plus the cover will now be dirty and will not be nice to your clean car once you do wash it (unless you wash the cover also).
My car almost always looks clean from a few feet away, but from inside the car I can always see dirt or pollen on the hood when I look out.
The only time mine really looks clean from inside is just after I have washed it and then waxed it inside the garage. Then when I back out, it stilll looks shiney looking down the hood. (for about 5 minutes)
