Default Fixed roof style hatchback

Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket hatchback piece available for the c5 coupe that will make it look like the fixed roof coupe? The hatchback is soooooooooooooooo ugly it makes the car look so long and soft.

Has anyone attempted to make their own? Any pictures?

There have been a few conversions here,,But involved major bucks and body work. There have also been some FRC's that added a targa roof,,and same statement applies. Best bet is to sell the coupe and get an FRC or Z06 straight out. OR if you want options,,get a convertible and get an aftermarket hard top,,,some look very much like the FRC!!

I would take a bath selling my car just to get a FRC. You think someone out there would sell a hatch that would look like a FRC. That long back window makes the coupe look horrible from the side.

Try posting it for a trade. You never know if there is a FRC or Z06 person wanting to get into a coupe.

I just did a heads/cam/intake/exhaust/converter/diff/etc/etc. swap.....makes the trade a little more difficult....or maybe easier....I'll roast a stock Z....hmmm. Thanks for the idea.

Hi Mike,

I felt the same way as you did and I had a lot more money invested in my car then you plus I was going to do a full body kit anyway so the cost aspect of painting the car was not a factor.

To be honest with you the cost to convert from a coupe to a FRC is just not economical. The parts will probably set you back $4K to $6K that does not include paint and the time to re-wire the interior.

There use be a place C5West.com that did sell a rear hatch, that was shaped flat but they don't appear to be in business anymore.

Why did you buy a coupe if you didn't like the looks of it? I bought my car new so I bought exactly what I wanted. I prefer the looks of the coupe so that what I bought but even if you bought it used why would you by a car you think is, and I quote "soooooooooooooooo ugly"

That bath would pale in comparison to the cost of converting to an FRC!! You might be able to find a deal on one,,swap your stuff into in,THEN sell your old one!! Market is all over the place now,you never know what you might find!!

Kind of have the same question myself. I have seen a post here before where the owner bought a kit that replaced the back hatch with something that looked like the rear glass area off an early 70's C3. Looked terrible IMO. Probably a lot easier and cheaper to just get an FRC if that's the look you are after.

I've seen a conversion kit that will make a coupe into a retractable top Vert.

I know you have a C5.I found pics on another board but it is of a C6.I thought if you found out where he got his from maybe the same company makes something like it for the C5.It is kind of ugly on the C6.I will send you a p.m.Chris.For some reason when I click on your name there is nowhere to send you a p.m.?
