Just came in from my weekend ritual D&C (dust and cleaning) of my 04Z 'striper' and I noticed fingerprints on the door where I had touched the door to push it closed. This is obviously not the first time but it is time to ask: Aside from the obvious smarty answer of "Don't touch the car", is there a wax or other product that is hard enough to keeps these fingerprint/palmprints from showing on my dark colored car?? I saw the same thing on my 07Z, black in color, and it just may be something I have to live with-carry a microfiber rag at all times!!!!

I have the same concern after cleaning my vehicles. I usually close the doors by applying finger tips to the door jamb area or on the exterior rubber molding at the bottom of the glass.
I use ZAINO products on my cars, but there's still finger prints when I close the door by the handle. At least this way, the prints are on the door jamb where I don't seem to be as bothered.
Very seldom does either manner not successfully close the door. If it does...repeat procedure until you have achieved success in your goal...

My solution is whenever I close the door I put my finger under the door handle and push it shut. I never touch the outside becuase the smudges would drive me crazy.

I am on my third black Vette. Fingerprints and dust are a fact of life. Unles you wear gloves, there's no way around it. If it really bugs you, then just keep a micro-fiber detailing towel and a bottle of detail spray in the back. I keep one in the small storage compartment.
You guys need to take tips from Joe Amoto, when he used to come into the sunoco where I worked he would use a small cloth to touch any chrome part of his car.
He would open and close the door and the fuel door with the cloth, as far as I know no one has ever touched his chrome with there bare hands.
He had and still has his 66, 427 ragtop burgundy with a white top and black interior, and it still looks like the day he bought it, of course when your a zilloinair you can do these things.
No, I think most of us are just as **** as you are. We all waited a long time to get our cars (well most of us) and we want to take good care of them.
You could get some of the 3M clear vinyl material (scraps would do it) and apply it to the door lock area of your car door. At least the finger prints wouldn't be on the paint.
Note to self, contact local 3M shop and follow own advice...

this is what I do, also have the microfiber just in case and detail spray.
dark colored cars gotta love them, but hate them at the same time
Close the door using the bottom edge of the door handle and close the trunk by snapping the lid shut using the inside latch hook.
The hood can be dropped from the right height to latch so all the fingerprints are on the underside of the hood.
Any questions?
