has anyone seen a message pop up on the DIC that says "RANGE LOW".
I have 3/4 of a tank of gas showing on my fuel gauge, so that should not be it.
I did just reset a "check engine" light that popped up on the way home last night. It turned out to be my right air bank (PCM P1416). I have read about this already (sweet thread and great instructions, I have yet to attempt this), and I don't know if the two are connected or if they are at all related to one another.
After I reset all codes, my DIC is still saying "Range Low". Any clues?
thanks in advance.
It's the fuel tank sending unit. Very common problem with C5's, no big deal. Usually resets by turning the key off and back on again or just fill the gas tank up. Re-set your trip OD every time you Fill Up so you know approx. how much gas you have left when it happens again.
Also buy better fuel like Chevron or Shell hi-test with supposedly more cleaning agents it it. Might keep the problem under control.
My car does that from time to time and I only use Chevron or Shell. Mine will throw lights, bells and whistles sometimes usually with about 1/3 to 1/4 of a tank of fuel left.
It would be worse if your gauge indicated that you have fuel when you really don't and your stuck on a busy freeway. I believe forum members had that happen as well.
I let mine get lower on fuel than it has been since I bought it, this past weekend. It showed low fuel on the DIC, not range low. If I reset and switched to range it showed "low" until I begin to drive to tank up. It then climbed gradually to range "61". Also had the check gauges light.
Thanks all for the replies. It's at least comforting to know that I am not alone in my problem. I will try the higher test gas suggestion. I just bought the 'vette two weeks ago and ran my first tank out of it. I filled it with 87 octane, which apparently was a mistake... is this a "you get what you pay for example"?
I'll let you all know if it clears up.
Thanks again for the advice.
