Default Long tube headers question

Has anyone with long tubes, who kept there O2 sensors, had a problem with setting 0172 and 0175 codes ( too rich bank 1 and 2) Just wondering because I keep getting them. I think its because my front O2's have been moved back about 18" and they don't get hot enough and send signal to PCM to add fuel. Just asking Thanks Laurence

Should move the fronts to the hdr front location and have the rears deleted by a tuner! Just helped install 2 sets of LG streets last Saturady! Local tuner did the deed!

Sorry I didn't get to your posts sooner. The car has been tuned since header install. The car seems to run really rice at low speeds. I'm about to put heads and cam in it so will have the car tuned again and hopefully solve my problem because I have had it for about 7 months. Thanks again for the info.

If you are running rich, then no, the car was not 'tuned.' You may need some VE table adjustments if your O2 sensors are working correctly.

With the LG streets, they recommend moving the REAR o2's to the front and leaving the rear bungs empty.

Is that a form of a permanent cutout?

The rear O2 sensors are equipped with higher rated heaters vs. the front O2 sensors. When you install a set of long tubes, you are moving the O2 farther back in the exhaust system, reducing the amount of heat that the O2 sensor has, and causing improper readings.

Moving the rear O2 to the front eliminates this issue... but if you need to continue to run all four O2 sensors, then just replace the front O2's with ones used for the rear, or use "Universal" O2's made by Bosch. ($53 each from Autozone, O'Reillys, etc...)

I just did the LG Motorsports (Street Series) and installed the universal O2's up front without a problem. (Except for the rear O2 codes, that is.)

Good luck.

Mark

I just changed the fronts and it solve my problems alittle but I put the ones made for the fronts and they were alot more than $53. I am going to get a tune from a different tuner soon so hopefully he will be able to fix this problem. The problem is I live in Utah and have to do my tuning by internet (HPTUNER software). thanks for the info Laurence
