When I bought my 02 Z06, it had Nitto 555 on the front and 555R on the rear. The rears are worn out and need to be replaced, the fronts have plenty of wear left. I was thinking of replacing only the rears.
I like to autocross, I would like tires that are good for this, but want a tread wear rating greater than 140 to avoid R class.
I don't really drive in the wet.
What would you do?
Replace all 4? With what?
Replace the rear with another type of Nitto?
Look for a deal, if you can't find a deal on 4 just get 2 like the ones you have, and buy 2 more when you have the bucks.
I do have 4 firestones in z sizes, I had them on my z for 1500 miles, I changed wheels, and the wheels I picked up had good tires on them so I just kept these in the basement, if you want them $800 bucks + ship if you live nearby I can deliver my zip is 18708
The 2 I have now on the back (555R) have a tread wear rating that is too low for my auto-x needs. The 555's I have on the front do not come in a size that would fit the back.
I would change all 4. You don't want two difference treads front and rear, IMHO. Consider the Vrederstein Sessante's. I bought a set of GY GS-D3's and they are good, but the Sessante's look really great, are reasonably priced, and have gotten excellent write-ups here and elsewhere raving about how great they perform. Another alternative is the Kuhmo Ecstas, also reasonable and get great feedback.

Just a thought.
Thanks for the opinions.
I see the Ecsta MX on Tire Rack, I presume a 275 front.
Does anyone know a good place to buy Vredestein "tyres"?

Reason: new info
I was looking at those Nitto NT05 as well, wondering when they would be available and what they would cost. No reason not to wait, it keeps snowing here in NY, I haven't driven my vette in a month.
