I just picked up a Schumacher float charger. Any suggestions on where to ground the negative cable? The set of cables it comes with are short and wouldn't reach the engine block. Thanks in advance!!
I don't know what the cable looks like on yours but all I had to do to mine is grab the two clamps and pull the cable apart right down the middle. That gave me plenty of reach to make it from the + terminal to the bolt sticking out behind the idler pulley.

Unfortunately the ones they give wouldn't reach even if you pull it apart.
Why don't you want to just connect it to the negative battery terminal? My Battery Tender Plus came with a quick disconnect cable that permanantly mounts to the (+) and (-) battery terminals. I've used it that way for 3 years with no problems.
Thanks for the help. I did a search as well. Apparently quite a few guys don't ground the cable.
If you don't use the black ground cable off the charger, (I think that's what you're saying) you aren't going to charge a thing!!
In this situation, red charger lead to the positive terminal on the battery and the black to the negative terminal on the battery. Hook them on, plug it in and you're in business.
