need help with oil pressure...

need help with oil pressure...
My oil pressure gauge is pegged out (both on the gauge and the HU display). What would cause this? Is it the sender or could there be something in the motor causing it to max out?
I don't know if this matters, but the car sat for a month and my battery went dead. I don't know if this could cause anything.
Please help, I don't want to cause any additional damage.
