So, here is the question. While the car was on the hoist this fall, we noticed there was fluid lost from where the trans meets the rear axle. We gave the bolts a 1/4 turn. Not sure if that was the fix or not. I will wait till spring and check.
Anyone know the amount of work that goes into fixing this leak? It appears when the car was bought new, the seal was replaced a week after ownership. Now 11 yrs later, its leaking again.

My auto was leaking where the transmission mounts to the differential. The transmission shop pulled the entire transmission to replace the seal, pretty big job. Your exhaust needs to come out along with the rear suspension.
The cost of repair was $1100, which including servicing the transmission for around $100. I figured I might as well have it done while it was in the shop.
Tightening the bolts 1/4 might just have taken care of the problem.
I also had some dripping and spots of gear oil from the rear end. I found the fill plug was less than finger tight. Problem solved.
