I just got my vette a week ago and it has a MGW shortshifter in it. I hate it to death. It's the only problem with my vette. Very hard to shift. Sometimes I use all my force and can't get it into gear. This car is my daily driver now and my arm is sore from that damn 5th gear(I sometimes use my left arm to shift to 5th).

Yes it is more than likely your tranny. I am loving mine. I feel it is about as close to a sequential gear box as you can get. Me all I do is move it up and it snaps into the next gear or move it down and it downshifts. No side to side effort whatsoever. It took about an hour of driving to get used to the gears being so close. I kept trying to push it over so hard to get to reverse until I finally realized I don't have to push it over that hard because 6th is not that far over. I guess the only problem I have is it amplified my dying tranny so had to call RPM up and order a new one
