Default Installed LG Pros - Question- please read

Installed some LG pros with off road X. After driving it around and doing some readjustments to the clamps- It sounds as if it has a leak under the car. I called LG and they said that it sounds like that- kind of a ticking type of noise. I assume because they are thin walled or something i dunno. Under a load on acceleration it really sounds like ***. It shouldnt be leaking- I made sure all the slits were covered and i tightened the crap out of the clamps- Im supposed to have the car tuned on Tuesday so i need some input fast- thanks guys.

the ticking sound is normal for LT, due to the thinner wall

I found that the clamps from LG really sucked ***.... even tightened down with my air impact gun, they wouldnt give a proper seal. I took them off, and bought some very nice 4" band clamps from Car Quest Auto. They are T-304 stainless steel and only about $11.00 ea. It solved the problem for me.

Yeah i mean i cant tighten them down anymore with out crushing the dang piping lol- LG said that if theres no carbon anywhere on the piping that they would send me new clamps-but if they are just the same style i really dont think it will solve much.

Get a stethescope from Autozone or wherever. You made need to get some 1/4" copper tubing for an extension.

If you do this you'll be able to listen for, and find any leaks.

You would think LG, the premier Corvette tuners, would have decent clamps with their expensive kits.....

TSP sent form fitted soft metal clamps with their header kit that seal up real nice. Maybe you can buy a set of just clamps from TSP.

i ordered a set of torctite band clamps to use with the pros. figured i would just spend the extra money for better clamps and install them with the headers.

When the car is cold jack it up and start it. Crawl up under there and you should be able to locate the leak fairly easily.

My LG clamps seal just fine, no leaks anywhere or at least no carbon stains around the joints. Headers normally have a tick and sometimes that will transfer through the exhaust and sound like it's coming from under the car.

I did not use the gaskets that came with mine. I bought LS2 gaskets and they sealed fine. However I have had a ticking like you said and after several removals and reinstalls due to motor issues and eventually I developed a crack in one of the gaskets and I got a "ticking". PIA but go back and make sure everything is tight and lined up there should be no ticking. Did you get the headers w/the EGR valve? Not to open up a can of worms if you did but this is the biggest problem I had with mine they both blew off and I have since fixed them but what a hassle. Happened at track events both at Road Atlanta. If you did deal with it now before that becomes an issue.

I haven't had any noise or leaks and my headers have been on and off the car multiple times.

Only problem I've had is that one shop left the bolt pointing down instead of tucked up in the tunnel like it should be, and I knocked it off , destroyed the clamp, and cracked the pipe.
