Doing my winter mods and one I wanted to do was have my alternator painted to match my theme. The alternator has been removed but the bracket along with the power steering pump is still there. Need some instructions for my husband to remove these two things. He cannot see how they come out. Any pictures and a procedure method would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.
I just did this last weekend to put in a chrome alternator bracket and it was more then a little bit of a pain in the behind. That one bolt on the lower passenger side of the power steering pulley was quite a hassle to get to. I used this link to get an idea what I was tackling, (about a third of the way down shows how to remove it) and also did a search for power steering pump on the C5 tech section.
I ordered a new LS2 power steering pulley to install on the pump to replace the stock one because it was aluminum not plastic and actually had slots in it. It only ran about $16. Went to the local O'reilly's part store and borrowed their pulley puller/installer kit, just had to leave a deposit and they refunded my money when I returned it...think Auto Zone also does it.
One tip...I put the new LS2 pulley in the oven for a bit to heat it up to make it easier to press back on to the pump.
