So I am crusing on the interstate at roughly 70 or so when the cars ahead of me slow down. I dont think anything really so I just tap the brakes and then I notice something fly up near one of the cars ahead of me. It bounces into the middle of the highway directly in front of me. I hurry up and slam on the brakes I pas it doing about 20 or so and it takes its last bounce towards me I swerve to the right a little and avoid getting hit by inchs. It passes within inches of my driver side fender and door turns out it was a metal bucket I think. Luckily I avoided the mayhem and suffered no damage

Sounds like you got very lucky. That could have caused alot of damage. Just be thankful you were paying attention unlike some of the drivers on the road these days.

I had something similar happen... only it was one of those 5 gallon plastic buckets rolling across the lanes of the freeway.

As I went by, it rolled toward me, I sped up and passed it, but the SUV behind me didn't I just watched in my rearview as it exploded into a million pieces as the SUV ran over it... whew!

Glad you missed it too

Got to share this, I was following a Toyota Camry doing about 50 when he swerved to HIT a carton lying in the side of the road.
I just about peed myself laughing when the carton exploded on impact raining down cans of baked beans.
It took out his wheel and front fender.
I still smile thinking about it

Funny you should mention this. Last week a ladder slid off a work truck and nearly hit my car. Good thing it started sliding away from my car.

A while back I was driving center lane in the dark no traffic. What's that?!? A wingback full sized chair sitting on the highway like someone was setting up a living room. Zig left zig right WTF. Was that a chair? Called the state police to tell them someone was going to die if they didn't get out there.

These cars have great steering for getting out of the way quickly.

Glad you managed to miss it.

I had a 6" lift and 35" tires put on my old 1/2 ton truck. 20 miles from the shop after picking it up and doing 75mph on the interstate, my front left wheel came off. I was pulled immediately into the ditch and I watched my wheel bounce and roll a little over a 1/4 mile down the interstate.
Several cars swerved to avoid it and luckily it didnt hit anyone and just eventually rolled into the ditch.

Yikes... could have been much worse!

This winter, I was doing about 50mph along my side of a divided highway, when an SUV going the opposite direction managed to make itself airborne, and it was headed right at my windshield. There was another car to my left who saw this also; he broke sharp left and I broke sharp right and this SUV landed (upright, somehow) right between us, missing us both by inches. Scariest thing that ever happened to me while driving, that was.
