Welcome! There are no stupid questions (though stupid answers are never in short supply!) There is literally a ton of information available here - and just about anything that can happen to your car or anything that you experience has been discussed here. You might sometimes ask a question and you'll be directed to search, you can try it...sometimes it works great and other times - not so good.
There are a lot of very good vendors associated with this site - some that are a wealth of information and are enthusiasts themselves.
If I can ever help you in any way with information, I will do my very best to help you out. I have the deepest respect and admiration for our brave folks in uniform.
Welcome to the forum, thanks for your service, congrats on your new baby, and pics are mandatory ASAP. C5 means it is the 5th generation body. Make sure you read stickies at the top of each section, and especially the DIY sticky at the top of the C5 tech section. LOADS of invaluable info.
As for cleaning, check the car care section, that's where the pros hang out.
Last, but not least, learn to use the search function, and ask questions.
Good luck!
Congrats on your new ride, and welcome!!! Also, I echo others' grateful thanks for your service to the best country in the world...
My 2 cents worth on "first things to do" - if it hasn't already been done, get a column lock bypass installed as soon as you can. Otherwise, it's just a matter of time until your flatbed ride to the repair shop. Second, even easier, install the skip shift eliminator so you can use second gear when YOU want to use it, rather than when the little brain in the car says you can use it.
Good luck, and come home safe.
If you don't know when the oil was changed last, regardless of what the dic says, change it. After that, follow the dic as far as oil life percentage is concerned.
Do you have an owners manual? A wealth of info in there.
I'm a Zaino user/fan. Great car care products.
I just replaced my PC polisher with a Flex polisher. One of the two are a must have for everyone imo. Both are very user friendly and will produce great results.
Ask away, and more importantly, stay safe.
