I have an opportunity to to pick up a '98 Pace Car with an MN6. The car is 100% original, the decals are new and it's in good shape (not museum quality) with 18K miles.

My loving wife has green-lighted the deal and said - "I know how much you've wanted one, go for it."

Spare me the negative comments on the Radar Blue and Yellow paint scheme. Also - I don't need any commentary about yellow wagon wheels. But do you think it's worth $26.5K?

I won't bore you all with the details about why I want this car, I guess I need some validation before I pull the trigger.

Thanks in advance! If I buy it, of course I'll post pics....I know the drill!

It looks like it fits in the price range of what's on the market right now.
18k is pretty low milage for a 98. If you like it, get it!

Sounds like a pretty good deal for a low mileage car!

Please bore us with the details........why do you want this car?

If this is your dream car go for it. You only live once and life is short. Does this mean you will be selling your existing vette or are you adding to the stable?

It is a good deal on a less common care! I do have a terrific deal on some machine face yellow OEM Z06 wheels that will really look terrific on it. Then you can take off those wagon wheels. PM me if interested, I can email you pictures of the wheels. They are really sweet!

I like to drive my cars...

and if I drove a purple/yellow car having to explain to all the "normal" people what the car really is and how "special" it is with it's unusual paint scheme.... it would get tiring keeping up the faith.

NO. is my answer. (since you asked)

I'd rather buy a nice 5oth anny.

IF you keep the '98 for another 30 years...IF the world as we know it still exists you might get something... but by then it wouldn't matter... kinda like now.

It's your life.

way too much money. if that was a regular 98 with that mileage, it would be worth 18k MAX. Is this car worth $8,000 more?

HECK NO

My wife has always loved those too. Sounds like a reasonable deal given the rare type and low mileage. How often are you going to come across those anymore? I say if it is what you want (and you obviously have your own reasons) then go for it.

Well - I told the seller that I was interested in the car at the compromise price I mentioned in the first post. Then I told him that I'd like to see the car in the daylight and up on our lift here at Xtreme.

He balked and said I could come up to where he is (20 miles away) and go to the Chevy dealer that he uses to look at the car.

It's not the miles for me, but it is principal. So we're at a stalemate for the moment.

The car would be in addition to my black car - not a replacement. It would be a garage queen that I would drive occasionally.

The long boring story as short as possible is that I have been to 23 Indy 500's including the one in '98. I have a '98 car too. I simply like the car and always have - and I like six speed cars, this is one of 547 made (1163 total production). I don't care if the car appreciates in value, I want it because I like it - simple as that. My money that I have in investments is losing value every day and I might as well spend it on something that will give me enjoyment.

So - we'll see where this goes, I'll keep all of you that are interested posted.....

My opinion, you better like it an AWFUL LOT at that price.
And if that's the price you have it talked down to.......
I wish I could back you up as you are a very helpful guy here on the forum, but It just doesn't do it for me.
Good luck though.

I'm with you (in the minority). Grew up at Indy Motor Speedway and have always wanted a 98 Pace Car. Truth be told, I would love to have all of the old Vette Pace cars.

I'd go for it ! You only live once and as of the last check, your not taking anything with you when you check out. But if I was you, I'd find a extra set of decals. I have a friend and she had a 98 pace car and someone rammed her at a stoplight and she had to shell out $500 bucks to find a set of decals for one side? So that is the only cavet I say your looking at. I don't even know if there are any extra decal sets out there anymore, it's been 11 years.

Other than the price being a little high, Id say go for it. I know the color scheme isnt for everybody but I like it better than the '95 Pace Car color scheme.
