Just check to see if the differential seal (left side, usually) has been fixed or is it leaking. Common issue.

I have had my 04 6 spd for 2 years now and have had no problems, I understand that if you notice any clutch problems with the car you might be looking at a big $$ repair bill however. 2 cents delivered.

Default seal

Thanks for the heads up on the seal. I wil make sure that I check it out. If it needs to be repaired , what is the cost ? I could use that in the negotiating............

Default clutch

I was hoping to skip out at lunch today and drive it , but old man winter has left the roads with snow.
The clutch is something I always worry about . This has 42K original miles,

I will see how it feels ( I will call to get an estimate from a dealer this morning. Curious to see what the cost would be)

I have always done them myself on past cars

Thanks

Make sure the power windows work. I've had both the left and right side power window motors replaced in my 2004 coupe.

0 issues with my 04 6 speed.i think the car was bullet proof by then, aside from making sure it has a CLB.If it doesnt you need to get one on it.............In case you not aware it keeps you steering wheel from locking on you..............

I also had the differential leak on my 2004. Both fixed under warranty though. Otherwise, no major issues.

The C5 is a superb car and if it has been well cared for you will love it. I have loved mine and it has been a dream, no problems whatsoever aside from normal maintenance. At 56k i have just replaced the battery, replaced the tires twice, and done the brakes once. A couple of mods, CAI, exhaust...and tune. All good. I can't count how many oil changes....yes these things cost more than your average car but the thrill of driving the beautiful C5 and the stares you get from hotties makes it all worth the while. Heck, just the satisfaction of looking at the car sitting in the driveway after i have just washed her is almost enough.

Remember... it's the last year of the C5 body style, therefore...... it's a collector car as well !

I've had my 04 Comm. Edition 6-speed for 2 1/2 years now and the only problem I've had is the passenger window quits working every now and then. Drives me NUTS !!

Your experience mirrors my own, except for the CAI and the tune

Read the sticky at the top of the page if haven't already. Great info there.

My 04 coupe has had continuing problems witht the real diff seal. It may be worth putting it on a lift and looking at the entire back rearend. A lot of time it's hard to spot unlless you can see fluid around the diff area. Even though I've had this one problem, the car is a joy to own. Good luck

No problems with my '04 (original owner) - except it keeps getting faster.
