Default HP Difference? 97-00 vs 2001+

Just as the title says. Is there a significant difference in HP in 97-2001 year models verus 2001-2004? Anyone put them on a dyno to compare?

I went from a 2004 to a 1997 and I was so disappointed with the power loss that I ordered a high performamance hood seal from Southern Car Parts. Now I blow the doors off those late model guys.

yup, but about 25 more ft/lbs of torque as well (with the manual trans). LS6 intake, different cam etc. It's not a deal breaker though, all years are good. A few mods or a cam swap would erase any difference between the two.

Also the Z06 exhaust manifolds became standard on all LS1's and helped a bit!

Slap on a blower and it cures all short comings of any model C5

For coupe and vert - 5 hp difference. For Z06, the '01 had 385 hp and the '02-04 had 405 hp.

All good choices, and if you want to make the most of all that, heads are in order, whether aftermarket or ported LS6, with a matching port job on the intake. A good tune and it will know your sox off.

2001 Z06 cam was different than the 2002-2004 Z06 cam, and also the heads, or, at least the valves (sodium filled) and springs were different.
Also, the 2001-2004 blocks (same used for the LS6 and LS1) were modified for less pumping losses than the 1997-2000 blocks.
Another little known point of difference, in the LS1s, was that the 2000 cam was the most aggressive of any C5, 1997-2004. So, if you have a 2000 without precats, you may have one of the strongest stock C5s made.
