That's good to know. When I lived in Chicago, a guy on my softball team was a Chicago cop. I asked him why they ticket for blackouts and he told me it's because most of them don't have a reflector surface. He indicated the biggest issue is that if you park your car on the side of the road (and the lights are turned off), the blackouts will not provide a reflective surface to reflect the oncoming lights increasing the odds of a collision.
I then asked how the newer models such as the Nissan Altima, etc. with the clear rear light housings get away with it and he said it's because they have red reflector strips built into the rear fascia.
It was nice to get a real answer because I always wondered why it was an issue if you can see the brake lights. Good luck! They look great on your white Vette!
