No idea what that is.

Effective design, and yes, definitely worry about water ingestion with it....where is the filter located?

Not a "FLIP-TIE".

That is an aftermarket induction.

Here is the "FLIP-TIE".

filter is right where the intake goes throuh the stock shroud. It is not the "flip-tie" as the stock part looks a
lot different.

I vaguely recall that MTI made an intake like that.

I also recall MTI (one of them) making a "ram air" intake like that.

There used to be a shop in the New York City area that had something like that on the market in the late 90s. They were bought out by somebody else.

I believe SLP made something similar (with the intake snout bent downward/forward) for the C4s.

I'm 99% sure that it is a MTI True Ram Air Intake, just like the one I bought for my 99. I would go and double check but I'm in Ft Lauderdale and the Vette is in Seattle.

I hope there's some sort of screen in there...that thing is like a giant, highpowered vaccume. You'll suck up nuts, bolts, and plastic bags

Nope, no screen, but the filter's screen would take care of small debris. The filter (same size as stock) is located flush with the lower radiator shroud. Pretty much behind the cover in the picture. The top cover bolts to the scoop underneath the cutout shroud and the exit point (scoop) is located as pictured, right under the bumper. It's a true ram-air system.

The Flip-Tie mod is nearly identical with the exception that there's no formed ram-air scoop under the shroud. That may be a benefit against water ingestion.

The Flip-Tie mod pictured uses the original locking clips and can be adjusted to apply enough pressure for a good seal. The filter will get dirtier faster with the Flip-Tie, but so will any of the exposed ram-air systems out there.

$700! Wow. And 26 RWHP! I think I'll pull mine off and sell it. It was also on my car when I bought it. Let's see, $700 vs. two 24" wire tires and a new AFE filter. Hmmm...
