Default Battery Replacement

Any particular batter you guys recommend??

Die Hard?? The standard GM Delco??

I need to replace mine as it died over the winter while in storage.

It was the original '99 Optima so its time has run its course.

Default AutoZone

Three years back I faced the same problem and at that time the concenus was the Gold Top Duralast from AutoZone. It died last week but it might have been my fault. You need to check the water!!! What??? Is this the 70's? Check water? Yep, the guy at AutoZone popped the two plastic caps off and there it was...a look back to the 70's! Good battery? I won't know until another 3 years go by. Got a new one for free (3-year replacement) so will be checking the water now.

I'm going for an Optima Yellow Top ASAP. I love the dry cell technology!

I like AC/Delco or Interstate. Whoever the supplier is, make sure they move alot of batteries. You could be buying an "old" battery right off the shelf.

While others have had problems, I had very good luck with the Optima Red Top that was in my '00. Six and a half years with no problems and still going strong when I sold the car.

Wallyworld battery plus battery tender will last 10 years when used properly. Properly is the tender stays plugged in until you go out for a drive and plugged back in when you return. Not just during storage periods. This is the reccomended method and it avoids any deep cycling of the battery.

Contrary to what everyone is saying here, if you do a search you will see that Optima batteries SUCK and people have nothing but problems with them.

I went with a Wal-Mart battery, 3 year warranty, $70. I can get 2 for the price of 1 Optima

Wal-Mart - $70 out the door with warranty. Since putting it in I have not had any problems. My 00 vert is not a DD and only gets run on the weekends and I have not had any issues since install of the Wally world battery.

is your car a daily driver? .. seems like most of the problems I've read about with the Optima are cars
that sit for extended periods - apparently the Optima
doesn't do well if it sits - at least without a tender.
