Default New Tires- WOW!

Just put some Nitto 555r 285/35/18s on the rear. All I can say is holy crap! Finally found a DD tire that hooks well enough to get most of my power to the ground. Virtually no spin from a dig n/a, and still hooks pretty quick with a 100 shot of Nos. Also, discovered yesterday that they perform well in the rain. Awesome tire!

Very nice to have a sticky tire that will not kill you on a wet road

Where did you buy them from and how much did you fork over?

Got them from Horsepower Sales in Pompano, FL. They do all the performance work on my car, and are a vendor here. Paid $600 for the 2, mounted and balanced.

They perform well in the rain? I can put them on my C4 with 18's on the rear. That is excellent news, thanks for the review

I would have, but my rims are 10.5" and didn't want to go wider than 285.

My Vette is my DD as well. Will the wear on the tires survive at least a years worth of driving ?

I'm real close to needing new tires and since I'm looking at new tires I'll be swapping wheels as well.

I'm sure that depends on the kind of driving you do. I will say that few people I know that have these on their DD said to expect around 10-15K miles.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever read....the STOCK tires on a Z06 (which has a 10.5" rear wheel) are 295's....since when are 295's too big for a 10.5" wheel?

I never said they were too big, dick. Just my preference. Sorry if you just learned to read.

awesome i will be getting a set of Nitto's in the spring. I've got 10.5" wheels out back and have 295's with no issues. Any pics of these tires?

You are correct these tires are great. I loved them for about 8 months, until they almost killed me when I got out in the rain driving from Houston to Huntsville. At 55mph the *** of the car was all over the place. My Z had 305 on the rear and was a weekend car. Granted I drive at a brisk place most of the time, I am not launching very much. I have 0 confidence in the wet with these tires once they are get a little worn. GREAT dry traction tire I will say.

Just my two cents guys. I dont get scared very often, but if it wasnt for active handeling I would have totaled the car on more than once occasion on that trip.
